Phase II Macro Project

The Anglican Martyrs’ Site Namugongo has grown to be one of the most prominent faith based, Pilgrimage and Cultural tourism site in the region attracting millions of Christians annually especially on 3rd June from Uganda and other parts of the world to commemorate the lives and religious beliefs of the Uganda Martyrs.

The Phase II project seeks to put in place the required infrastructure so that Uganda Martyrs’ Namugongo Anglican’ Site meets the current and future demand given its significance in the region and its growth potential and further transform the site into a one stop self-sustaining faith-based tourist site.

This will be attained by leveraging the Site’s rich cultural history and its great significance to the Christian faith both country and worldwide and turn it into a world class religious and cultural historical Centre in Uganda.

1 - Martyrs’ Museum Tower

Construction and operationalization of a Three Level Museum Tower to accommodate the Genesis of the Martyrdom, Cultural History of Uganda’s Tribes, History of religion in Uganda, Wildlife and antiquities, Libraries and Documentation.

Construction of a 25,000 Seater Amphitheater / 3rd June Worship Center with a cover stand to accommodate the 3rd June martyrs’ day worship celebrations.

3 - Recreation Centre And Leisure Park

Recreation Centre and Leisure Park to include expansion of the Spring Well, Swimming pools, Indoor games, Restaurants and Refreshing centers, Children’s Leisure Park, Toilets and washroom facilities

5 - Martyrs Museum Hotel

The Architectural and Structural Designs are still under review as discussions with Namirembe Diocese for the location are still on going.

Construction of a 200 Room Martyrs Museum Hotel to accommodate tourists and pilgrims with conference halls, other services and amenities.
